Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Economic Development Minister Vic Fedeli are planning a proactive “charm offensive” in the U.S. following Donald Trump’s presidential victory, aiming to secure Ontario jobs and strengthen cross-border trade relations. With Trump expressing skepticism about electric vehicles and signaling potential changes to U.S. subsidies, including those tied to the Inflation Reduction Act, Ontario is poised to emphasize its commitment to EV production and trade cooperation.
Fedeli announced upcoming visits to Washington, D.C., and other states in December and January, reinforcing Ontario’s role in North American economic growth. Premier Ford, meanwhile, remains optimistic about Ontario’s EV future, asserting that the province will continue to be a major player in the sector.
