After more than a decade of planning and anticipation, Mississauga’s southeast will finally welcome a brand-new Walmart Supercentre on May 8, 2025.
Located at 507-515 Lakeshore Road East, just west of Cawthra Road in the growing Trinity District in Lakeview, the 95,000 sq-ft retail space will sit on the second level of a newly constructed complex that also houses the Bank of Montreal, PetSmart, Popeye’s, and other businesses. The supercentre promises to be a one-stop destination with both full grocery and general merchandise offerings.
This new opening marks a significant retail development in the Lakeview area, which is also undergoing massive transformation with the upcoming Lakeview Village residential and commercial community.
Community response has been mixed—some raising concerns about future traffic congestion, while many residents, especially seniors and local job-seekers, have welcomed the store for its convenience and employment opportunities.
Shoppers will be able to access Walmart directly from the above-ground parking lot located behind the plaza.
As the opening nears, local excitement continues to grow. “I used to drive to get to Walmart—now I’ll walk there,” said longtime resident Mary Ruffolo. “You can’t stop progress.”
