In a recent announcement, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) disclosed that it will appoint the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) as the new designated professional body responsible for issuing educational credential assessments (ECAs) for architects planning to immigrate to Canada.
This change, set to take effect on May 20, 2024, is crucial for architects who need to verify that their international educational qualifications are equivalent to those required in Canada. Achieving this equivalency through an ECA is a vital step in qualifying for economic permanent residence programs.
The CACB will provide ECAs specifically for applicants whose primary occupation falls under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) for Architects (code 21200). These assessments not only verify the authenticity and equivalency of foreign architectural credentials but are also an integral part of the professional licensing pathway for architects in Canada.
