Minister Ruby Sahota Announces Nearly $19 Million Federal Investment to Accelerate Homebuilding in Southern Ontario

Funding Aims to Boost Local Businesses, Create Jobs, and Expand Housing Supply

The Government of Canada, through Minister of Democratic Institutions Ruby Sahota, has announced a nearly $19 million investment to support local businesses working to build more homes—faster—across Southern Ontario. This strategic funding will enhance production capabilities, adopt advanced technologies, and expedite the construction of new homes to meet the region’s growing demand for affordable housing.

The investment will provide financial support to ten innovative homebuilding and construction manufacturers, enabling them to scale operations, automate processes, and improve efficiency.

Companies receiving funding include:

  • Assembly Corp. (Toronto) – $4 million to expand manufacturing for sustainable housing solutions.
  • CABN (Brockville) – $1.5 million to adopt advanced equipment for prefabricated homebuilding.
  • Diamond Manufacturing (Markham) – $976,747 to automate production and reduce lead times.
  • Innovatools Inc. (Vars) – $414,911 to enhance tool manufacturing for the construction industry.
  • Inter Build Limited (Bolton) – $2.5 million to automate cold-formed steel framing production.
  • MetaLigna Modular Inc. (Arnprior) – $2.5 million to scale modular home manufacturing.
  • New Earth Solutions Inc. (Guelph) – $220,000 to develop digital platforms showcasing green infrastructure benefits.
  • Northland Paving (Scarborough) – $1.675 million to expand operations in Shelburne for precast foundation wall systems.
  • Trusscore Inc. (Palmerston) – $2.298 million to automate extrusion processes and introduce a drywall alternative.
  • UCEL Inc. – Funding details to be confirmed.

Minister Ruby Sahota emphasized that the investment aligns with the federal government’s commitment to housing affordability, economic growth, and job creation.

“Everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home,” said Minister Ruby Sahota. “By investing nearly $19 million in local businesses across Southern Ontario, we are not only increasing the housing supply but also creating good jobs and strengthening our communities.”

  • Since 2015, FedDev Ontario has invested over $250 million in nearly 70 projects, creating over 8,400 jobs in key industries.
