Brampton’s industrial corridor is set for a major transformation as construction advances on a four-building project at the former Ford Motor Company parts distribution centre on Dixie Road.
The development, led by Panattoni Development Company, will deliver 1.3 million square feet of state-of-the-art industrial space at 8000 Dixie Rd., just north of Steeles Avenue. One building is slated for completion by the end of this year, with the remaining three scheduled for 2026.
Michelle Smele, Panattoni’s vice-president of operations, said the new space is already available for lease in multiple configurations, with job creation to depend on future tenants. Her colleague, director of development Ryan Smele, called the project an opportunity to “bring new life to this once-aging industrial site,” while also paying tribute to its history with a commemorative sculpture by Canadian artist Ron Baird.
The development will feature 797 car parking spaces and 115 trailer stalls, with individual buildings ranging from 164,860 to 570,014 square feet.
Regional Councillor Gurpartap Singh Toor, chair of Brampton’s economic development committee, called it “quite a massive project,” noting the city worked closely with Panattoni to fast-track approvals. “We made sure we were able to expedite their planning process,” Toor said, adding the redevelopment is “breathing new life” into a critical industrial corridor.
With Panattoni — one of the world’s largest private real estate developers — at the helm, Brampton’s former Ford site is poised to become a new hub for industry, jobs, and growth in the years ahead.
