Man Fatally Stabbed in Brampton Apartment, Suspect at Large

A man has died following a stabbing incident early Wednesday morning inside a Brampton apartment building, according to Peel police. The incident occurred just after 8:30 a.m. in a low-rise building on Baycliffe Crescent, near the Mount Pleasant GO station.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the victim on the second floor of the apartment building. Constable Nikhil Chakravarthy stated that the police are currently attempting to determine if the victim was a resident of the building.

Const. Chakravarthy further mentioned that there is a single male suspect believed to have known the victim. The suspect, who is known to the police, is actively evading capture. Despite the ongoing search for the suspect, authorities believe there is no threat to public safety in the area.

Peel’s homicide unit has taken over the investigation. Officers have been conducting interviews with residents of the building and those who might know the suspect to gather more information.

Residents of the neighborhood expressed their shock and concern over the incident. Saurabh Malhotra, a recent addition to the neighborhood, found it particularly unsettling, noting that such incidents were unexpected in the area. Long-time resident Michelle Anthony described the scene as unusual for the neighborhood, marked by an unusually high presence of police.

Jasdeep Singh, who lives on the second floor of the building where the stabbing occurred, expressed his shock, stating that the incident happened on his floor.

Police are urging anyone with video footage or information about the incident to contact Peel’s homicide branch to assist with the ongoing investigation.
