Kamal Khera Announces $2.7M Accessibility Investment for LUSO to Promote Inclusivity

The Government of Canada, through the Enabling Accessibility Fund, has announced a $2.7 million investment in LUSO Community Services to enhance accessibility infrastructure. Kamal Khera, MP for Brampton West and Minister of Diversity, Inclusion, and Persons with Disabilities, participated in the announcement, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering a truly inclusive society.

The funding will support the creation of essential accessibility features at LUSO, including multi-sensory rooms, an accessible elevator, drop-off zones, and a fully accessible gym. These developments will significantly reduce barriers for individuals with disabilities, enabling full participation in community life.

Minister Khera underscored the importance of such investments, stating, “When we prioritize accessibility and allow everyone to fully participate in our society and economy, both Canadians and Canada succeed.” The initiative is part of a broader effort by the government to collaborate with community organizations, such as LUSO, to build a culture of belonging where all individuals can thrive.

This announcement reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and removing barriers, ensuring that everyone—regardless of ability—has the opportunity to contribute to society.
