In a shocking case of human trafficking, Uttarakhand police have arrested a man from Gujarat for allegedly sending three youths to Thailand under the guise of job opportunities and subsequently selling them to a foreign company. The incident came to light when Rajendra Saun, a resident of Banbasa, filed a complaint on July 10 after losing contact with his son, Lalit, and his friends Vikas and Kamlesh, who had traveled to Bangkok in search of employment.
According to Champawat Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajay Ganpati, the investigation revealed that Rahul Upadhyay, a resident of Khatima, along with his associate Jai Joshi from Gujarat, was responsible for luring seven youths from Uttarakhand with promises of jobs abroad. However, upon arrival in Bangkok, the youths were sold to a foreign company for 10,000 Thai Baht.
Further investigations revealed that the foreign company transported the victims to a secret location in Myanmar, where they were forced into cybercrime activities.
Jai Joshi has been arrested and presented in court, while authorities are tracking Rahul Upadhyay, who is reportedly en route to Dubai.
With the help of the Indian Embassy, the missing youths have been safely rescued and returned to their homes
