Downtown Brampton is preparing to welcome thousands of residents and visitors as the popular Brampton Farmers’ Market returns for its 2026 season, bringing fresh local food, handcrafted products, community programming, and family-friendly activities to the city’s core.
The market will officially open on Saturday, June 13, and operate every Saturday until October 10, rain or shine. This year, the market will take place at a new downtown location along Main Street South between Queen Street and Wellington Street, as well as Queen Street East between Main Street and Chapel Street.
The annual market is one of Brampton’s most anticipated summer attractions, offering shoppers access to fresh fruits and vegetables, locally prepared foods, artisan products, and specialty goods from vendors across the region. The event also serves as an important platform for local entrepreneurs, many of whom have used the market as a launching pad to grow successful businesses serving customers across Canada and beyond.
Opening day will feature an added cultural attraction with the launch of the 2026-2027 Local Authors Showcase presented by Brampton Library in Garden Square. This year’s showcase highlights 57 authors from across Peel Region who have collectively published 81 books. The program includes 39 first-time participants and 45 Brampton-based writers, providing visitors with an opportunity to meet local authors, purchase books, and celebrate literary talent while enjoying the vibrant market atmosphere.
The Farmers’ Market continues to play a significant role in strengthening Brampton’s local economy by supporting farmers, food producers, artisans, and small businesses. The event also aligns with Ontario’s Local Food Week, which recognizes the contribution of local agriculture and food industries to economic development, job creation, and food security.
Adding to the unique experience, the City of Brampton will once again offer outdoor civil marriage ceremonies during select market dates throughout the summer. Couples wishing to exchange vows in the heart of downtown Brampton can book ceremonies scheduled for June 27, July 25, August 29, and September 26. The popular program provides a distinctive and memorable setting for residents celebrating one of life’s most important milestones.
Throughout the season, visitors will also have opportunities to engage directly with City of Brampton staff and learn more about municipal programs and initiatives. Various city departments will participate on select Saturdays, providing information about environmental sustainability, public transit, recreation programs, stormwater management, downtown revitalization efforts, and preparations for the 2026 municipal election. Interactive activities, including pollinator plant giveaways and community outreach programs, will further enhance the visitor experience.
City officials say the market continues to serve as a cornerstone of downtown revitalization efforts by bringing residents, visitors, and businesses together in the city’s historic core. As major city-building projects such as Riverwalk and downtown streetscape improvements advance, the Farmers’ Market remains an important community gathering place that contributes to economic activity and supports local businesses.
Mayor Patrick Brown encouraged residents to take advantage of the market’s return, describing it as a celebration of community, entrepreneurship, and local culture. He noted that the market creates opportunities for residents to connect with one another, support local businesses, and engage with city initiatives while experiencing the energy and growth taking place in downtown Brampton.
With its mix of fresh food, cultural programming, local authors, community engagement opportunities, and family-friendly activities, the 2026 Brampton Farmers’ Market is expected to once again become a vibrant weekly destination throughout the summer and early fall season.
