Dion Phaneuf Set to Fire Up Mayor Patrick Brown’s Hockey Night in Brampton

Former Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf will bring his trademark grit and leadership to the ice next Wednesday, August 20, as part of the high-profile lineup for Mayor Patrick Brown’s Hockey Night in Brampton at the CAA Centre. The charity game, raising funds for Brampton’s second hospital, will feature a stellar roster including Auston Matthews, Ryan Getzlaf, Curtis Joseph, Mark Giordano, Jeremy Roenick, Owen Nolan, and Owen Power.

Fans can meet hockey icons before the game, with complimentary autograph sessions included with a ticket. Owen Nolan, Curtis Joseph, and Jeremy Roenick will sign at 6 p.m., followed by Darryl Sittler and Wendel Clark at 6:30 p.m., courtesy of Presenting Meet and Greet Sponsor 407 ETR.

Tickets are $25 at hockeynightbrampton.ca, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and puck drop at 7 p.m.

Phaneuf, drafted ninth overall by the Calgary Flames in 2003, captained the Maple Leafs from 2010 to 2016 and built a reputation as one of the NHL’s fiercest competitors. Over 14 seasons with Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, and Los Angeles, he recorded 494 points in 1,048 games, earned three NHL All-Star nods, and made the 2005–06 NHL All-Rookie Team.

Mayor Patrick Brown called Phaneuf “one of the toughest and most respected players in the NHL,” saying his presence will add even more excitement to an already action-packed night in support of a critical community cause.
