Cyber Storm Hits X: Musk Points to ‘Massive Attack’ as Outages Rage On

Elon Musk raised the stakes Monday, alleging X was slammed by a “massive cyberattack” as the platform grappled with rolling outages that kicked off at sunrise and lingered past noon.

“We’re under fire daily, but this took serious muscle—think big group or state-level,” Musk claimed, framing the disruption as a targeted blow.

Downdetector.com charted the fallout: over 40,000 U.S. users lost access by 10 a.m., with peaks at 6 a.m. and noon, and no end in sight. Canada’s Downdetector.ca tallied 4,000+ reports around 10 a.m. The X app flagged 56% of the issues, while 33% hit the website.

It’s a grim déjà vu of March 2023, when Twitter stumbled through an hour of glitches. Now, Musk’s painting Monday’s mess as a full-on cyber assault with serious backing.
