Costco One Step Closer to Opening in Caledon as Developers Resubmit Plans

The long-anticipated arrival of Costco to Caledon has taken a significant step forward, with developers officially resubmitting a site plan application to the Town of Caledon for a major retail plaza at the northwest corner of Mayfield Road and Creditview Road — just north of Brampton’s border.

Glen Schnarr and Associates Inc. submitted the updated plans on behalf of 12100 Creditview Developments Limited to address concerns raised by town planners during the initial review. If approved, the new Costco would anchor a large commercial development that also includes a Costco gas station, FreshCo, McDonald’s, Shoppers Drug Mart, several additional retail buildings, and expansive parking.

The project is expected to serve multiple fast-growing communities, including Brampton, Halton Hills, Orangeville, and surrounding Caledon neighbourhoods. For many residents, the proposed location offers a closer alternative to existing Costco warehouses, which often require long drives.

This marks the second attempt to bring Costco to the site. An earlier proposal in 2022 was rejected by local politicians over infrastructure concerns. Since then, rapid population growth and infrastructure upgrades, including road widening, have shifted local sentiment in favour of the project.

While the development is still subject to municipal approvals and Costco’s continued involvement, sources say there is strong momentum to “make it happen,” with experienced stakeholders pushing the project forward.

Though no official timeline has been confirmed, early projections suggest 2027 as a realistic target for the warehouse opening — a development that would transform shopping options for residents in Caledon and neighbouring communities.
