City of Brampton Partners with Ontario Government and Peel Children’s Aid Society to Launch Youth Wellness Hub at Century Gardens

The City of Brampton has announced a transformative partnership with the Ontario Government and Peel Children’s Aid Society to establish a Youth Wellness Hub as part of the Century Gardens Youth Hub project, further enhancing resources for youth in the region.

This partnership forms part of the Ontario Government’s initiative to expand its network of Youth Wellness Hubs, adding 10 new hubs to the existing 22 across the province. Since their inception in 2020, these hubs have connected 43,000 youth and families to mental health, substance use, and wellness services, accounting for over 168,000 visits.

The Youth Wellness Hub will integrate mental health, substance use, and primary care services with recreational and educational programming, offering a multi-use facility designed with extensive input from local youth and service providers. Key features of the project include:

  • A 12,500-square-foot youth-centric building featuring creative spaces, e-sports areas, and meeting rooms for various youth programs.
  • Outdoor amenities such as a basketball court, community gardens, an amphitheater, and the Atiba Hutchinson Soccer Court (already open).
  • A public art installation created by an Ontario-based Indigenous artist or artist group under the age of 29.

Construction for the Century Gardens Youth Hub is underway, with an anticipated opening in 2026.

Local leaders and provincial representatives celebrated the milestone:

  • Patrick Brown, Mayor of Brampton:
“Home to more than 153,000 youth aged 14 to 29, the City of Brampton is committed to building a brighter future through compassion and innovation. This partnership with Peel Children’s Aid Society addresses youth needs comprehensively, providing the tools and resources necessary for them to thrive.”
  • Rowena Santos, Regional Councillor, Wards 1 & 5, and Chair of Community Services:
“Our years of advocacy and investment in the Century Gardens Youth Hub have resulted in increased mental health support for Brampton’s youth. By integrating mental health services with recreational programs, we are creating a space where youth feel supported, valued, and empowered.”
  • The Honourable Charmaine Williams, Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity:
“The establishment of the new Youth Wellness Hub reflects our government’s commitment to ensuring youth have access to culturally responsive, accessible services. This initiative fosters resilience and wellness, empowering Brampton’s next generation to overcome challenges and seize opportunities.”
  • The Honourable Graham McGregor, Associate Minister of Auto Theft and Bail Reform:
“This project is about more than just a building—it’s about creating a space where young people can grow and thrive. This is a significant need in our community, and I’m proud to see it being addressed through this innovative partnership.”

The Century Gardens Youth Hub aligns with Brampton’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan (PRMP), a 15-year roadmap for community growth through investments in recreation and wellness. Over the past two years, Brampton has allocated $1.4 billion to transformative projects, including the Embleton Community Centre and Balmoral Recreation Centre.

With plans to increase recreation programming by 5% in 2025, the city anticipates welcoming an additional 8,000 patrons to its facilities and programs.

As one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities, Brampton continues to prioritize the health and well-being of its residents. Through strategic partnerships and investments, the Century Gardens Youth Hub is set to become a beacon of support, innovation, and opportunity for youth and families in the community.
