Regional Councillors Rowena Santos and Navjit Kaur Brar joined Armagh House staff and community partners to celebrate the first anniversary of Armagh House’s expansion into Brampton. This milestone marks a significant step in addressing gender-based violence by providing transitional housing for women and children fleeing abuse.
Armagh House is the only second-stage supportive housing program in Peel Region, offering safe, affordable housing and comprehensive wraparound services to help survivors rebuild their lives. Unlike emergency shelters, Armagh provides longer-term stability—typically up to two years—empowering women to transition toward independent living through trauma-informed care, counseling, and life skills development.
“Transitional housing is a critical part of the continuum of care needed to end gender-based violence in our community,” said Councillor Santos. “Armagh’s presence in Brampton fills a vital gap and offers hope and healing to women and families who need it most.”
Councillor Brar added, “It was an honour to celebrate this milestone with Armagh House. Their work is essential, and we must continue to advocate for more transitional housing options across Peel.”
Armagh’s Brampton location was made possible through collaborative efforts with local leaders and community organizations. The expansion reflects a growing recognition of the need for second-stage housing in the region, where demand continues to outpace availability.
