CBSA Hiring 245 Student Border Officers for Summer 2026 — Applications Close Sept. 18

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is recruiting 245 student border services officers for summer 2026, with positions available in 20 locations nationwide, including Hamilton, Mississauga, Ottawa, and Toronto. Applications must be submitted by Sept. 18, 2025, through the Government of Canada’s online jobs portal.

The roles, part of the Federal Student Worker Experience Program, pay between $17.75 and $38.38 per hour, depending on the applicant’s academic level. Duties include working alongside border officers at airports, cruise ship operations, mail processing centres, and telephone reporting centres, handling tasks such as interviewing travellers, checking documents, verifying goods, and referring cases for further examination.

To qualify, applicants must be full-time post-secondary students through fall 2025 and winter 2026, be returning to school full-time in September 2026, and be at least 18 years old by the start of training in April 2026. Candidates must also pass an entrance exam, interview, security clearance, and, where required, a medical exam. A five-week paid training program will run from late April or early May through June 2026.

Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with bilingual skills considered an asset. Applicants are encouraged to apply early due to the lengthy hiring process, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, with interviews expected to begin by November 2025.
