Brampton to Open New Cricket Pitch by Summer, Aims to Be Canada’s Cricket Capital

Brampton is set to enhance its status as a cricket hub with the construction of a new cricket pitch at Blue Oak Park, scheduled to open in June, just in time for the summer season. This initiative is part of the city’s ambitious plan to become the cricket capital of Canada, investing heavily in cricket infrastructure.

The ground-breaking for the new pitch is slated for Thursday, with the facility expected to host local cricket leagues throughout the summer months. This development follows Brampton’s recent efforts to expand its cricket facilities, including the construction of the city’s first year-round cricket facility at Earnscliffe Park, which will feature a covered dome allowing play during winter.

In addition to these projects, Brampton has launched several cricket-related enhancements over the past year, such as the city’s first dedicated tape ball pitch, multi-lane batting cages at the Kwality Sweets Cricket Pitch and Save Max Sports Centre, and the installation of shade shelters at various pitches to provide comfort during the hot summer days.

These developments underscore Brampton’s commitment to fostering a vibrant cricket community and providing its residents with top-notch sporting facilities.
