The City of Brampton has been recognized as the Top Participating Community in the Urban Centres category and placed second overall nationally for its impressive lineup of events during Culture Days 2024. This national celebration of arts, culture, and heritage highlights Brampton’s unwavering dedication to fostering creativity, cultural engagement, and vibrancy.
Brampton’s pollinator-themed watercolour visual art event at Dearbourne Park was also named runner-up for the Best Collaborative Program Spotlight Award, adding another accolade to the city’s cultural achievements.
Record-Breaking Participation
Culture Days 2024 witnessed a historic milestone, with over five million participants engaging in more than 4,000 creative events across Canada. Brampton’s contributions to this success included over 200 free activities organized in partnership with key local groups like Brampton On Stage, Brampton Arts Organization (BAO), Brampton Public Library, Bovaird House, Downtown Brampton BIA, and Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives (PAMA). The events attracted hundreds of attendees and celebrated Brampton’s rich and diverse cultural landscape.
The lineup featured interactive workshops, performances, tours, and hands-on activities tailored for participants of all ages, showcasing the city’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in the arts.
A Celebration of Local Talent and Diversity
Brampton’s recognition underscores the City’s efforts to amplify local talent, celebrate diversity, and make cultural experiences accessible to all residents. These efforts align with the goals of Brampton’s Culture Master Plan, which aims to enrich the city’s cultural identity and foster a thriving creative community.
Looking Ahead to Culture Days 2025
Next year, Culture Days will run from September 19 to October 12, 2025. The City of Brampton will soon invite local creatives to submit ideas and host events, continuing its tradition of celebrating arts and culture. Details about the call for artists will be announced on brampton.ca/culturedays.
