Brampton Members of Parliament, including MP Maninder Sidhu, MP Ruby Sahota, and MP Sonia Sidhu, joined Mayor Patrick Brown and Regional Councillors Rowena Santos and Paul Vicente at Brampton City Hall to discuss key investments in transit, infrastructure, housing, and sustainability. The collaboration between federal and municipal leaders has resulted in over $1 billion in federal funding, strengthening Brampton’s position as a leading city for economic and sustainable growth.
During the meeting, leaders emphasized the significance of these investments in transforming Brampton’s transit system, mitigating flood risks, expanding housing, and accelerating green initiatives such as electric vehicle charging stations. The funding will help create thousands of jobs, improve public services, and enhance the quality of life for Brampton residents.

“Investments like these are game-changers for our city,” said Mayor Patrick Brown. “With more jobs, better transit infrastructure, and a commitment to sustainability, Brampton is securing its place as one of Canada’s leading cities for economic growth. We thank our federal partners for their continued support in making Brampton a better place to live and work.”
A major highlight of the federal funding includes a $69.9 million investment for the construction of Brampton’s largest transit facility, set to be developed at Hwy 50 and Cadetta Road in Brampton East. This initiative will create over 1,000 jobs and improve transit services, marking the single largest federal investment in the history of Brampton East.
“I am proud to advocate and deliver this historic federal investment for Brampton East,” said MP Maninder Sidhu. “Public transit is the backbone of our growing city, and this new facility will help meet the increasing demand while creating well-paying jobs for our residents. This is a transformational project that will benefit Brampton for decades to come.”
Another critical project receiving federal support is the Riverwalk flood mitigation initiative, which has been allocated $38 million in funding. This project will help unlock 3.6 million square feet of land, enabling commercial development that is expected to generate over 20,000 jobs and contribute more than $1 billion in economic activity.

“Riverwalk is more than just a flood mitigation project—it is an investment in Brampton’s economic future,” said MP Ruby Sahota. “This funding will not only help protect our downtown from flooding but will also create thousands of jobs, revitalize our local economy, and make our city more climate-resilient.”
In addition to transit and flood mitigation, the federal government has committed $114 million through the Housing Accelerator Fund to facilitate the construction of over 24,000 new homes in Brampton. The funding will help build essential infrastructure, including transit expansion, to support the rapid growth of the city.

“Affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges our city faces,” said MP Sonia Sidhu. “This investment will help us build homes faster and more efficiently, ensuring that more families, seniors, and newcomers have access to safe and affordable housing. Housing is about more than just buildings—it is about creating strong, vibrant communities.”
With sustainability at the forefront of Brampton’s future, discussions also highlighted the importance of green initiatives, including expanding electric vehicle charging stations and promoting clean energy solutions.

“Brampton is leading the way in creating a cleaner, greener city,” said Regional Councillor Rowena Santos. “We are committed to reducing emissions, investing in sustainable infrastructure, and ensuring that our city remains environmentally responsible while growing at an unprecedented rate.”
Echoing this sentiment, Regional Councillor Paul Vicente added, “These federal investments will have a lasting impact on Brampton’s future. By strengthening our infrastructure, expanding transit, and accelerating housing development, we are ensuring that Brampton remains an attractive place to live, work, and invest in.”
The collaboration between federal and municipal leaders remains crucial in securing funding for projects that will transform Brampton into a thriving economic and transit hub. As Brampton continues to grow, federal investments will play a key role in ensuring a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future for all residents.
