Brampton Man Charged with 11 Vehicle-Related Offences After Routine Traffic Stop

Peel Regional Police have laid a total of eleven charges against a Brampton man following a traffic stop in the area of Mississauga Road and Bovaird Drive West on August 28.

During the stop, police discovered that the driver, 42-year-old Mitchel Wheeler of Brampton, was operating a motor vehicle while under multiple driving prohibitions. Wheeler was subsequently charged with nine counts of operating a vehicle while prohibited under the Criminal Code.

Further investigation revealed Wheeler’s extensive history of dangerous driving behaviour, including previous charges for impaired driving, flight from police, and failure to stop at several accident scenes.

In addition to the nine prohibition-related charges, Wheeler faces two additional counts related to unpaid fines.

Police have impounded Wheeler’s vehicle for 45 days, and he is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Peel Regional Police continue to urge the public to report dangerous drivers through their Road Watch program, emphasizing that keeping repeat offenders off the road is critical to community safety.
