Brampton Joins Province-Wide “Saved By the Beep” Campaign, Urges Residents to Test Smoke Alarms on Sept. 28

Brampton Fire & Emergency Services (BFES) is calling on all residents to participate in Test Your Smoke Alarm Day on Sunday, September 28, 2025, as part of Ontario’s third annual Saved By the Beep campaign.

The initiative, led by the Office of the Fire Marshal, aims to raise awareness about the life-saving importance of working smoke alarms and fire safety planning at home.

Community Event Details

To mark the day, BFES and its community partners will host a free public fire-safety event featuring educational displays, interactive activities, and expert tips for keeping families safe.

  • Date: Sunday, September 28, 2025
  • Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Location: Save Max Sports Centre, 1495 Sandalwood Pkwy. E., Brampton

Fire Safety Tips for Residents

  • Test smoke alarms monthly by pressing the test button; replace batteries or alarms that don’t work.
  • Replace smoke alarms every 10 years to ensure reliability.
  • Install alarms on every level of your home and outside all sleeping areas — as required by Ontario law.
  • Create and practice a home fire escape plan with everyone in your household.
  • Remember: working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire by 50%.
