Brampton Wards 9 and 10 Councillor Gurpartap Singh Toor has addressed recent concerns regarding a property he co-owns, which had accrued $12,500 in bylaw fines. The property, located at 123 Queen St. W., was cited for failing to meet city standards.
In response to media coverage, Councillor Toor confirmed that all outstanding fines have been paid. “The property is owned by a numbered company I am part of. We are taking necessary steps, including demolition, to ensure compliance with property standards,” Toor stated.
During a June 3 news conference, Mayor Patrick Brown reiterated the city’s stance on bylaw compliance, noting that Toor had settled all fines. “No one is exempt from following city regulations,” Mayor Brown stated.
Councillor Toor, elected in 2022, clarified that the property was purchased before his term and that redevelopment plans were paused to prevent conflicts of interest. “I have not been involved in city discussions regarding this property since taking office,” he emphasized.
