Brampton Celebrates National Youth Week 2025 with Free Events, Innovation Showcases, and Community Engagement

The City of Brampton is proud to once again celebrate National Youth Week with a vibrant lineup of free activities and programs running from May 1 to May 7, 2025. Honouring the creativity, leadership, and contributions of young people, the city is offering youth aged 14 to 29 a wide range of exciting events and meaningful opportunities to learn, connect, and lead.

This annual celebration shines a spotlight on the energy and potential of youth in Brampton and across Canada, encouraging participation in innovation, arts, recreation, entrepreneurship, and environmental stewardship.

Sponsored by Amazon, the Explore Brampton Youth Pass is back this summer, offering 2,500 eligible Brampton youth aged 12 to 16 free access to Brampton Transit and select recreation drop-in programs such as swimming, skating, and sports from July 1 to September 1, 2025. Youth can kick off the week by exploring Brampton’s growing tech scene at Brampton Tech Talks on Thursday, May 1, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Springdale Branch Library. Moderated by Kim Cooper of Space Canada, the event highlights young tech leaders and their stories of resilience and innovation, in partnership with the Brampton Economic Development Office and Brampton Library.

On Wednesday, May 7, the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre will host a virtual information session with Futurpreneur, a national organization that supports young entrepreneurs with funding up to $75,000, mentorship, and business resources. The session runs from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., providing insight into how youth can turn ideas into thriving enterprises.

Youth are invited to celebrate the week’s opening with a 2000s-themed indoor carnival on May 1, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Century Gardens Recreation Centre. Sponsored by Sheridan College and Domino’s Pizza, the event will feature inflatable games, tabletop challenges, nostalgic treats, and free pizza.

Throughout the week, the city will offer a diverse mix of free recreation programs, including the Next Gen Youth Market, an Outdoor Social Scavenger Hunt, Basketball and Dodgeball Tournaments, and Retro Roller Skate Night. Full program details can be found at brampton.ca/nyw.

The Fourth Annual Pass the Mic Open Mic Night will take place on Friday, May 2 at 7:00 p.m. at Snelgrove Community Centre. Organized by youth for youth, the event invites performers aged 13 to 24 to express themselves through poetry, music, comedy, or spoken word, in a safe, supportive, and inspiring space. Youth are also invited to take part in community clean-up events hosted by the Parks Maintenance and Forestry team. Held on Saturday, May 3 at Kiwanis Memorial Park and Sunday, May 4 at Komagata Maru/Red Top Valley, both from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., these events offer participants the chance to earn community service hours while promoting environmental responsibility. With over 153,000 youth, Brampton is one of Canada’s youngest cities. The City’s Youth Engagement Strategy, currently being updated with feedback from residents aged 14 to 29, is focused on expanding leadership opportunities, improving well-being, and creating inclusive, youth-driven services and spaces.
