Veteran Bollywood legend Dharmendra has been placed on ventilator support at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, sources close to the family have confirmed. The 89-year-old actor, who will turn 90 on December 8, 2025, was admitted to the hospital over a week ago after he complained of breathlessness.
According to medical sources, Dharmendra’s condition is being closely monitored by a team of specialists. While his family has not issued an official statement, reports indicate that the actor remains under intensive care. Earlier this year, in April, he underwent eye graft surgery, but had since been appearing in good health before this recent hospitalization.
Dharmendra, whose illustrious career spans more than six decades, made his debut in 1960 with Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere. Known for his charm and versatility, he rose to prominence in the 1960s with acclaimed performances in Anpadh, Bandini, Anupama, and Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke. He later became one of Indian cinema’s most beloved leading men, delivering iconic roles in classics like Sholay, Dharam Veer, Chupke Chupke, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, and Dream Girl.
Often called the “He-Man” of Bollywood, Dharmendra has continued to remain active in films and public life. He was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. His upcoming project, Ikkis, featuring Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, is scheduled for release on December 25, 2025.
