B.C. Airports Hacked With Pro-Hamas Messages, Causing Flight Delays

Flights at two major airports in British Columbia were delayed after hackers took over public information systems on Tuesday, broadcasting pro-Hamas messages and slogans across terminal screens and announcement systems.

Kelowna International Airport confirmed that its flight information displays were hacked to show messages declaring “Israel lost the war, Hamas won,” alongside insults directed at U.S. President Donald Trump. Videos circulating on social media also captured chants being played over the airport’s public announcement system. Similar incidents were reported at Victoria International Airport and at Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania.

Victoria airport officials said an “unauthorized audio message” was linked to a cloud-based software issue and was shut down swiftly by staff. Kelowna officials described the hack as the work of a “third party” and said they removed the unauthorized content by Tuesday night. Both airports have since been working to restore their affected systems.

The breach caused some flight delays at Kelowna International Airport, with three delayed departures listed on Wednesday morning, though it’s unclear if they were directly related to the hack.

A group calling itself “Siberislam” claimed responsibility for the attacks on social media, posting videos of the incidents. Authorities and airport IT teams are investigating the breach and working to strengthen security systems.
