The prestigious Caledon Country Club will set the stage for the 21st Annual Family Golf Tournament, proudly presented by Avtar’s Golf Academy Foundation. Founded and led by Avtar Brar, affectionately known as Golf Baba in the Indo-Canadian golf community, this much-anticipated event has become a signature blend of competitive sport, family bonding, and charitable giving.
Avtar Brar is a trailblazer in Canada’s golf community. In 1997, he founded the Indo Canadian Golf Association (ICGA), which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a record-breaking tournament attended by over 228 golfers, selected from 337 registrations due to capacity limits. Twenty-one years ago, Brar also established the Avtar’s Golf Academy Foundation, which continues to run this unique family-oriented tournament and provide free golf coaching to children.
Unlike traditional tournaments, this event’s hallmark is its family-first approach, inviting teams in categories such as father & son, father & daughter, grandparents with grandchildren, husband & wife, and siblings. This unique format, introduced by Brar, fosters togetherness on the course while promoting the joy of golf across generations.
The tournament also champions a deeper cause — raising funds to support children living with autism. Over the years, proceeds have funded programs and initiatives that improve their quality of life. This year’s event will once again welcome hole sponsorships, food sponsorships, and donations, allowing participants and community members to contribute directly to this meaningful mission.
Avtar’s Golf Academy remains at the heart of the Foundation’s vision, offering free golf coaching to kids and equipping them not only with sporting skills but also with discipline, confidence, and camaraderie.
