In a major breakthrough for Peel Regional Police, two Brampton men have been arrested in connection with a staggering $300,000 in liquor thefts from multiple LCBO locations across the region. The 21 Division Community Intervention Response Team has charged 25-year-old Anuj Kumar and 29-year-old Simarpreet Singh following an in-depth investigation into a string of high-value retail thefts.
Authorities believe Kumar was the primary individual behind the coordinated thefts, allegedly targeting LCBO stores across the region in a calculated and repeat fashion. Singh is also believed to have played a key role in the execution of these thefts.
Both individuals are facing a total of 35 charges, including theft, possession of property obtained by crime, and four drug-related offences. In addition to the new charges, police executed four outstanding arrest warrants during the operation. Following their arrest, Kumar and Singh were held for bail hearings.
Peel police say the investigation is ongoing, and further arrests and charges are expected as they continue to crack down on organized retail crime. The department emphasized its commitment to tackling property crimes that significantly impact local businesses and the wider community.
