Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks a Historic Milestone for Niwaas Long-Term Care in Brampton

The Niwaas Long-Term Care facility, a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to enhancing senior care in Brampton, officially commenced construction with a special Akhand Paath at Sri Guru Nanak Sikh Centre. This milestone marks a significant step forward in providing culturally sensitive, high-quality care for seniors in a setting that honors and preserves their traditions and values.

The groundbreaking ceremony brought together elected officials, community leaders, and members of the Sikh community, demonstrating a unified commitment to addressing the growing demand for specialized senior care services.

Shafqat Ali, MP for Brampton Centre, expressed pride in supporting the project:

The construction of Niwaas Long-Term Care is a testament to our commitment to providing seniors with the highest standard of care in an environment that respects their cultural and spiritual needs. It is inspiring to see the community unite behind this important initiative.

Gurvinder Kaur Singh, Chair of Niwaas Long-Term Care, emphasized the project’s deep-rooted connection to the community: “At Niwaas, we are more than just a long-term care facility; we are a family, deeply embedded in the cultural and spiritual ethos of the Punjabi Sikh community. Our mission is to provide compassionate, community-driven support that ensures dignity and comfort for our seniors.”

Kamal Khera, Minister of Diversity, Inclusion, and Persons with Disabilities, underscored the importance of culturally competent care: “Long-term care facilities like Niwaas are essential in ensuring that seniors receive compassionate and culturally appropriate care. This facility will be a vital resource in enhancing the quality of life for seniors in Brampton.”

Maninder Sidhu, MP for Brampton East, emphasized the significance of prioritizing senior care:

Located at 380 Fernforest Drive in Brampton, the Niwaas Long-Term Care facility is designed to offer specialized, compassionate, and community-driven care with:

-160 beds, including dedicated units for Alzheimer’s and dementia care

Culturally and spiritually aligned programs tailored to the unique needs of seniors
