Recall Alert: Snowblowers Sold in Canada Pose Injury Risk

Certain snowblowers sold in Canada are being recalled due to a potential injury hazard, according to Health Canada.

The affected snowblowers, manufactured in the U.S. under the Ariens Deluxe, Platinum, and Professional-Series brands, may contain defective parts, including a faulty brake arm and attachment-drive belt. Health Canada warns that these issues could cause the auger and impeller to continue rotating even after the operator releases the control lever, increasing the risk of lacerations if users attempt to clear snow from the machine’s housing.

The recalled snowblowers are bright orange and feature either rear wheels or tracks.

Consumers are advised to stop using the affected products immediately and contact the manufacturer or an authorized dealer for a free repair. Some of the recalled units have already been inspected and repaired, according to officials.

The model and serial numbers of the recalled units can be found on a white ID tag on the frame, with a full list available on Ariens’ website.

As of Thursday, no injuries or incidents related to the issue have been reported in Canada. The recall affects approximately 108 units sold in Canada and 6,264 in the United States between August and September of last year.
