India emerged victorious in the Asian Champions Trophy 2024, defeating hosts China 1-0 in a closely contested final to secure their fifth title. Defender Jugraj Singh scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute, breaking through a resolute Chinese defense after three intense quarters. Captain Harmanpreet Singh’s assist on the goal helped seal the victory at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Hulunbuir, China.
India’s victory further solidified their position as the most successful team in the tournament, with previous wins in 2011, 2016, 2018 (shared with Pakistan), 2023, and now 2024. China, competing in their first-ever Asian Champions Trophy final, put up a strong defensive fight but ultimately could not overcome India’s pressure.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan secured the bronze medal with a 5-2 victory over South Korea.
Harmanpreet Singh was named Player of the Tournament, while Jugraj Singh’s decisive goal underscored India’s dominance in the tournament
