Golf legend Tiger Woods is expected to change his not-guilty plea in a Florida DUI case stemming from a March rollover crash, according to court documents filed Tuesday.
Woods, 50, is scheduled to appear in a Martin County court Wednesday for a plea conference. Court records do not yet reveal what his new plea will be or whether an agreement has been reached with prosecutors.
Authorities say Woods was driving his Land Rover at high speed on a residential road on Jupiter Island when he clipped a truck and rolled his vehicle onto its side. He escaped without injury and reportedly told police he had been looking at his phone and adjusting the radio before the collision.
A breath test detected no alcohol, but Woods refused a urine test. Deputies reported finding two pain pills in his pocket and said he showed signs of impairment. Prosecutors have since received court-approved access to certain medical and prescription records related to the investigation.
Court records also indicate Woods travelled outside the United States for inpatient treatment following the incident.
The 15-time major champion has endured several serious injuries, surgeries and vehicle crashes during his career. He has not returned to tournament golf since the March accident, although he made a public appearance in June to discuss future PGA Tour plans.
