Toronto Police have announced the arrest of a second suspect in connection with the shooting incident that targeted the United States Consulate in downtown Toronto earlier this year.
Investigators confirmed that 19-year-old Zara Jabbi has been taken into custody following an extensive investigation into the March 10 shooting. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. outside the U.S. Consulate building located on University Avenue in the heart of Toronto’s downtown core.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire, although the incident prompted a significant police response and raised concerns about security at diplomatic facilities in Canada.
Police had previously arrested another suspect, identified as Sheldon Tracy-Stewart, in connection with the case. Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding the specific charges facing the newly arrested suspect or the circumstances leading to the arrest.
The shooting drew widespread attention due to the high-profile nature of the target and its location in one of Toronto’s busiest government and business districts. Security measures around the consulate were reviewed following the incident as investigators worked to determine the motive and identify those responsible.
With the arrest of the second suspect, investigators appear to have made significant progress in the case. Toronto Police have indicated that the investigation remains ongoing and additional information is expected to be released as court proceedings move forward.
The United States Consulate continues to operate normally, and authorities have reassured the public that there was no ongoing threat to community safety following the arrests. Further details are expected as the investigation develops.
