Google Labs Unveils Experimental AI Agent ‘CC’ With Gmail and Drive Integration

Google Labs has introduced a new experimental artificial intelligence agent designed to help users manage daily tasks by drawing insights from their Google accounts. The tool, called CC, is currently available to select users in Canada and the United States.

Announced Tuesday, CC operates within Gmail and can connect to other Google services, including Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Photos and the wider internet. Built using Google’s Gemini AI models, the agent analyses a user’s data to generate daily summaries highlighting key tasks, reminders and updates.

According to Google Labs, CC is intended to function as a productivity-focused assistant. It reviews emails, upcoming calendar events and documents stored in Drive to identify priorities for the day, then delivers a concise, list-style “morning brief” to users.

The agent can also be customized through direct interaction. Users can send CC an email with specific instructions or requests, prompting the AI to adjust its daily summaries accordingly. Google says this allows the tool to become more responsive to individual schedules and needs.

In addition to drawing from Google’s own platforms, CC can access information from the internet to provide broader context and more personalized insights, such as relevant updates tied to a user’s plans or interests.

The experimental agent is available through Google’s early access program and is limited to users aged 18 and older who subscribe to the Google AI Pro or AI Ultra plans. Google said a waitlist is in place and that the tool will expand to additional regions and users in the future.

Despite its broad data access, CC has notable limitations. The agent cannot take actions on a user’s behalf, such as replying to emails, scheduling meetings or completing tasks. Instead, it functions strictly as an informational assistant, offering guidance rather than execution.

Google Labs said the launch reflects its ongoing effort to explore agent-based AI tools that help users better organize information and manage daily workflows, while maintaining user control over final decisions and actions.
