Over 350 Vehicles Stolen Across Mississauga and Brampton in the Past Month

Peel Region, ON — Peel Regional Police are warning residents to stay vigilant as vehicle thefts continue to surge across Mississauga and Brampton, with 357 vehicles stolen between October 9 and November 9, 2025.

According to official police data, the incidents include 177 thefts in Mississauga, 179 in Brampton, and one in Halton Hills under Peel’s jurisdiction. Of these cases, eight have been solved, 336 remain under active investigation, and 13 have been closed as unsolved.

The breakdown of stolen vehicles reveals 242 cars, 15 motorcycles, 88 trucks, and 12 categorized as “others.”

Peel police identified several theft hotspots with particularly high activity, including:

  • Great Lakes Drive – 17 incidents
  • Airport Road – 12 incidents
  • City Centre Drive – 9 incidents
  • Courtneypark Drive – 5 incidents

Authorities have noted that many of the thefts are part of a broader trend affecting the Greater Toronto Area, where organized auto-theft rings are increasingly using advanced technology to reprogram vehicle key fobs and disable tracking systems.

Recent incidents in Peel Region include:

  • A fake carjacking case in Brampton that led to multiple charges.
  • A violent carjacking in Mississauga where a woman was assaulted and two teens were arrested.
  • A commercial truck theft in Brampton tracked successfully through GPS technology.

Peel Regional Police are urging residents to take extra precautions to protect their vehicles.

“Most of these vehicles are being stolen right from driveways,” officials said. “Simple security measures can make a big difference.”

Police recommend the following prevention tips:

  • Park vehicles in a locked garage whenever possible.
  • Use a steering wheel lock as a visible deterrent.
  • Install a lock on the vehicle’s data port to block thieves from reprogramming keys.
  • Set up a reliable home surveillance system with clear nighttime coverage and ensure footage can be accessed immediately.

Vehicle theft remains one of the fastest-growing crimes in Peel Region, prompting ongoing coordination between Peel police, the Ontario Provincial Police, and the Canada Border Services Agency to track stolen vehicles before they are shipped overseas.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately to Peel Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
