The City of Brampton has cancelled its upcoming public safety committee meeting, which was scheduled for August 14, just days before it was set to take place. No explanation for the cancellation was provided in the city’s announcement on social media. This would have been the third in a series of in-person safety committee meetings held in various wards, part of a new format launched in April aimed at bringing important discussions on community safety directly into neighbourhoods rather than holding them solely in City Council chambers.
The 12-member Community Safety Advisory Committee, chaired by Councillor Michael Palleschi, is made up of elected officials, community representatives, and local agency members. Its mandate is to raise awareness and advise council on matters affecting community safety and well-being. While the August meeting has been called off, the city confirmed the next session will proceed as planned on October 23 at 7 p.m. at the Jim Archdekin Auditorium for Wards 2 and 6. Another meeting for Wards 3 and 4 is set for December 11 at 7 p.m. at the Susan Fennell Sportsplex. Residents can learn more or get involved with the committee by visiting Brampton.ca.
