Brampton Regional Councillor Rowena Santos has been re-elected to the Board of Directors of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) during the organization’s Annual General Meeting held in Ottawa. This marks her sixth consecutive year serving on the board, representing the City of Brampton and the Ontario Caucus.
Councillor Santos expressed her gratitude for the continued support:
“The past five years volunteering as an elected board member of FCM have been an incredible privilege. Thank you again to FCM President Rebecca Bligh and CEO Carole Saab for the recognition of my service. I am looking forward to another term of service in our collective advocacy for the communities we love. Congratulations to my colleagues who have been elected in Ontario and across the country as FCM Board Members and to all who put their names forward. We are Stronger Together! Plus Fort Ensemble!”

In her role on the FCM Board, Councillor Santos has been instrumental in advocating for key municipal priorities, including housing affordability, infrastructure funding, and public safety. She serves as Chair of the FCM’s Municipal Finance, Infrastructure, and Transportation Committee, where she has led initiatives to address the pressing needs of municipalities across Canada.
The FCM Annual Conference featured a series of workshops and discussions aimed at equipping municipal leaders with tools and strategies to tackle challenges such as misinformation, climate change, and economic development. Councillor Santos participated in sessions focusing on infrastructure delivery and the role of municipalities in national prosperity.
Councillor Santos’s re-election ensures that Brampton continues to have a strong voice in national municipal affairs, advocating for policies and programs that benefit local communities.
