April 3, 2025 – As Hudson’s Bay Company prepares for a dramatic liquidation of nearly all its stores, customers are urged to redeem any outstanding gift cards by this Sunday, April 6. With approximately $20 million in outstanding gift cards on record as of January 1, the countdown is on for shoppers eager to take advantage of significant savings at select locations.
Liquidation sales have already commenced at the majority of Hudson’s Bay, Saks Off Fifth, and Saks Fifth Avenue stores across Canada. In many locations, including the CF Lime Ridge outlet in Hamilton, shoppers can enjoy discounts ranging from 15 to 40 per cent off a wide variety of items. However, deeply discounted prices do not extend to certain designer merchandise such as fragrances and cosmetics, which have been temporarily withdrawn from the sales floor.
As the company undergoes restructuring with plans to close all but six stores by June 15, the Hudson’s Bay Rewards program has been suspended. During this period, customers are unable to earn or redeem points, and Hudson’s Bay Mastercard holders can no longer access rewards, though cashback earnings from Neo Financial continue uninterrupted.
In a related development, holders of the $10 digital gift card issued through Tim Hortons’ recently concluded Roll Up to Win contest are affected by the corporate changes. Due to the liquidation proceedings, Hudson’s Bay is no longer issuing these gift cards. In response, Tim Hortons has proactively contacted affected contest winners and announced that, in collaboration with Endy, all $10 eGift Card recipients will be awarded a $50 Endy Gift Code. Endy, known as Canada’s original mattress-in-a-box brand, offers an array of mattresses, bedroom furniture, bedding, and sleep accessories.
