A new Leger poll spells good news for Prime Minister Mark Carney and his Liberal crew, who’ve taken the lead in voter preference just days after his swearing-in. Conducted March 14-16 with 1,568 Canadians for the National Post, the survey asked which party folks would back if ballots were cast today. The Liberals snagged 42%, edging out the Conservatives’ 39%. The NDP grabbed 9%, the Greens 3%, and 2% went for the unofficial Popular Party of Canada. The poll’s margin of error sits at ±2.47%.
Carney, the Liberals’ new face since last week following Justin Trudeau’s departure, is riding high with 46% of respondents liking what they see—outshining Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre’s 39% approval. Meanwhile, Poilievre’s unfavorable rating hit 49%, dwarfing Carney’s 28%.
Canadians also weighed in on Carney’s to-do list, with a majority pushing for a tariff-focused meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. Check out the full scoop at leger360.com.
