Hardeep Grewal has been re-elected as the Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Brampton East, marking another decisive victory for Premier Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservative (PC) Party. Grewal secured close to 52% of the votes, according to unofficial election results, reinforcing the PC stronghold in the riding he first won in 2022.
Grewal’s victory solidifies the PC Party’s commitment to infrastructure expansion, healthcare advancements, and economic growth in Ontario. Speaking after his re-election, Grewal highlighted the government’s accomplishments under Premier Doug Ford’s leadership, emphasizing key projects that will shape Brampton’s future.
“Under Premier Doug Ford, our government is delivering results: Expanding transit with the LRT tunnel, launching (Toronto Metropolitan University’s) med school, building Brampton’s second hospital, and moving forward with Highway 413,” Grewal stated in a campaign post.
A Strong Political Journey
Grewal first made history in 2022 when he unseated former NDP incumbent Gurratan Singh, flipping Brampton East from the New Democrats to the PCs. During his first term at Queen’s Park, he served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Transportation and was a member of the Standing Committee on Heritage, Infrastructure, and Cultural Policy.
His re-election not only cements his influence in Brampton East but also signals continued support for the PC Party’s development-focused agenda.
Opposition Falls Short in Brampton East
Despite a competitive campaign, the Ontario NDP, represented by Martin Singh, were unable to reclaim the seat. Singh finished third behind former Brampton councillor Vicky Dhillon, who ran under the Ontario Liberal banner.
This result reflects a continuing shift in political dynamics in Brampton, a key battleground city where the Progressive Conservatives secured all five ridings.
Grewal assured residents that his second term will focus on key priorities, including:
- Expanding Brampton’s transit network with the LRT tunnel extension
- Accelerating construction of Brampton’s second hospital
- Advancing the Highway 413 project to support economic growth and ease congestion
- Supporting workers, businesses, and families through pro-growth policies
“The next four years are going to be tough,” Grewal said. “With a strong, stable four-year mandate from the people, we will do whatever it takes to protect Ontario, our workers, our businesses, and families.”
As he returns to Queen’s Park, Grewal remains committed to delivering tangible results for the residents of Brampton East, furthering Premier Ford’s promise of building a stronger Ontario.
