Brampton Celebrates Seniors Month with Springfest Expo, Luncheon and Programs for Active Aging

The City of Brampton is celebrating Seniors Month this June with a full schedule of events, programs and community resources designed to help older adults stay active, connected and engaged.

At the heart of this year’s celebration is the return of the Springfest Expo and Luncheon, taking place on Friday, June 12, at Century Gardens Recreation Centre. The event will bring together residents aged 55 and older for a day of information, entertainment, social connection and community celebration.

The Springfest Expo will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will feature a free vendor fair with local non-profit organizations, senior-serving agencies and community partners. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about programs, services and supports available to older adults across Brampton.

Following the expo, registered guests can enjoy a buffet-style luncheon and dance from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., featuring music, entertainment, a live DJ and photobooth experiences.

A Flower City Senior Centre membership is not required to attend the luncheon and dance, and Brampton residents are eligible for a discounted registration rate. Registration closes Friday, June 5, at 4:30 p.m. Residents can register in person at any City of Brampton recreation centre, by calling 3-1-1 or online.

This year’s Seniors Month theme, “Let’s Get Moving,” reflects the city’s commitment to health, wellbeing and active aging through its Age-Friendly Strategy. The theme encourages residents aged 55 and older to explore recreation programs, build meaningful connections and access supports that promote independence and belonging.

Brampton continues to position itself as a leader in supporting older adults. The city was the first municipality in Canada to offer free recreation memberships for residents aged 65 and older, helping seniors access fitness, wellness and social programs at no cost.

Throughout June, older adults are encouraged to explore free drop-in activities, local senior-serving organizations, recreation opportunities, the Brampton Older Adult Alliance and other community resources that support healthy and connected aging.

The city’s popular weekly community barbecue series will also return to the Bob Callahan Flower City Seniors Centre this summer. Beginning Friday, June 5, and continuing every Friday through the end of September, older adults can gather for an affordable lunch, conversation and community connection from approximately 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first barbecue of the season will include cake to mark the start of Seniors Month.

Brampton Transit also continues to support senior mobility. Residents aged 65 and older can ride Brampton Transit for free with a Brampton Transit Senior Identification Card and a PRESTO card loaded with a free annual pass. Senior ID cards can be obtained or renewed at the Bramalea Terminal, Clark Facility or Sandalwood Facility.

Mayor Patrick Brown said Seniors Month is an important opportunity to recognize the contributions older adults have made to Brampton.

“Brampton’s older adults continue to play an important role in shaping our community through their leadership, mentorship, volunteerism and lifelong contributions,” Brown said. “Through programs like our free 65+ recreation membership and events such as Springfest, we are proud to support healthy aging and meaningful community connections for older adults across Brampton.”

Regional Councillor Rowena Santos, Chair of Community Services Section, said the month-long celebration reflects the city’s commitment to helping seniors age actively, safely and with dignity.

“Seniors Month is about celebrating the people who have helped build strong and connected communities across Brampton,” Santos said. “Events like Springfest create important opportunities for older adults to come together, access local resources and enjoy social and recreational experiences that support overall well-being.”

The City of Brampton thanked Ability Home Care Services, Toronto Pearson and Arbor Memorial for sponsoring Seniors Month and the 2026 Springfest Expo and Luncheon. The city also recognized Venvi for its support of this year’s Springfest celebration.

With social programs, recreation opportunities, transit supports and community events throughout June, Brampton’s Seniors Month celebration aims to honour older adults while helping them remain active, independent and connected to the city they helped build.
