Iran has published a chart suggesting it may have deployed sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz during the recent conflict, raising fresh concerns about global energy security and the stability of a fragile ceasefire.
The chart, released by state-linked agencies, highlights a “danger zone” along key shipping routes, indicating vessels may have been forced to reroute closer to Iran’s coastline. It remains unclear whether any mines have since been cleared.
The Strait of Hormuz — a vital corridor for roughly 20 per cent of global oil and gas trade — has already seen sharply reduced traffic, with only limited ship movement reported following the ceasefire.
Donald Trump said American forces will remain in the region until a final agreement is secured, warning of stronger military action if the deal collapses.
Oil prices climbed again on uncertainty, while renewed strikes in the region — including heavy attacks in Lebanon — have further threatened the already fragile truce.
With negotiations expected to begin in Pakistan, the situation remains volatile, as both sides signal readiness for talks while continuing military pressure.
