Mark Carney is set to speak with Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen following the landmark Artemis II journey around the moon.
Hansen and his crewmates completed a six-hour lunar flyby, travelling farther into space than any humans since the Apollo era and setting a new distance record.
Carney praised the mission as a milestone for Canada, noting it marks only the second time a Canadian astronaut has taken part in a lunar mission, highlighting Hansen’s role and expertise.
Industry Minister Mélanie Joly is also expected to join the call, which follows the crew’s successful data collection and imaging of the moon.
The astronauts are now en route back to Earth and are scheduled to splash down off the coast of California later this week, marking the completion of a historic step toward future lunar landings.
