89-Year-Old Milton Mayor Gord Krantz to Run for Historic 15th Term

The longest-serving municipal politician in Canadian history, Gord Krantz, has announced he will run again for mayor of Milton — seeking an unprecedented 15th term.

Krantz, who turns 89 this month, has held elected office since 1965 and has been mayor since 1980, never losing his seat. Despite speculation that his current term would be his last, he says his passion for the job and good health are keeping him in the race.

“Age is just a state of mind,” Krantz said, expressing confidence in his ability to continue leading the fast-growing community.

His last election in 2022 was one of his closest, winning by about 1,000 votes. With new challengers expected this fall, the race could be more competitive than in previous years.

Still, Krantz remains unfazed, saying his focus is simple — finish first.
