The William Osler Health System Foundation’s 12th annual Holi Gala dazzled guests and raised an impressive $1.24 million in support of local hospitals, bringing Brampton’s second hospital one step closer to reality.
Held on Saturday before a sold-out crowd of nearly 900 guests, the vibrant evening featured a standout performance by Punjabi music sensations The Landers, along with a dynamic showcase by the Bollywood Dance School of Canada.
Funds raised will benefit the Osler hospital system, which includes Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital, and the Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness, which is undergoing a significant transformation into Brampton’s much-needed second full-service hospital.
“On behalf of the patients and families who rely on Osler hospitals, thank you to the generous sponsors, donors and guests of Holi Gala who are continuing the proud 100-year legacy of community support that began with Peel Memorial,” said Ken Mayhew, President and CEO of Osler Foundation.
“Rather than saying something should be done, our community is stepping forward — with diverse backgrounds but common purpose — to get it done.”
The Holi Gala is Osler Foundation’s largest annual fundraising event, helping meet the health care needs of over 1.3 million residents in Brampton, north Etobicoke, Caledon, and surrounding communities.
The fundraising momentum continues next month with the Run for Brampton, hosted by Mercy4Mankind, an initiative of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association. The event will take place at Central Peel Turf Field starting at 9 a.m. on May 11, with a fundraising goal of $40,000 for the Osler system.
