Peel Regional Police are conducting a major investigation following a fatal incident in Mississauga that left two people dead and prompted a public warning about an armed and dangerous suspect.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening in the Port Credit area, near Briarwood Avenue, Hurontario Street, and Lakeshore Road East. Police responded shortly after 7 p.m. following reports of a disturbance.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they located an injured man and woman. Paramedics immediately provided life-saving medical treatment before transporting both victims to hospital in critical condition. Despite those efforts, police later confirmed that both individuals had succumbed to their injuries.
Investigators have identified 46-year-old Jordan Sangwin as the suspect and are actively searching for him. Police have issued a strong warning to the public, advising that he should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached under any circumstances.
A significant police presence remained in the neighbourhood throughout the evening as officers secured the area, collected evidence, and continued their search for the suspect.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident, nor have they confirmed the relationship between the victims and the suspect. No motive has been disclosed at this stage of the investigation.
