What’s Open and Closed in Mississauga for Good Friday and Easter Weekend 2025

Easter weekend is approaching, and many businesses and public services in Mississauga will be adjusting their hours—or closing entirely—on Good Friday, April 18, and Easter Sunday, April 20.

Residents should expect widespread closures on both days. Major shopping destinations including Square One Shopping Centre, Erin Mills Town Centre, Dixie Outlet Mall, and the Walmart Supercentre at Square One will be closed Friday and Sunday. Heartland Town Centre and other power centres will also be closed, though individual restaurants may remain open.

Costco, most grocery stores, and Whole Foods at Square One will also be closed on Easter Sunday. However, Whole Foods will be open on Good Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition, all levels of government offices—including Mississauga City Hall and Region of Peel services—will shut down on both days. Non-emergency regional services, libraries, LCBO locations, The Beer Store, and Canada Post mail services will not be available. Garbage and recycling collection will not occur on Good Friday, with rescheduling in effect.

While some parts of the city go quiet, several businesses will remain open. Most restaurants, Rabba stores, and Shoppers Drug Mart locations are expected to operate, though hours may vary. T&T Supermarket on Central Parkway may also be open, but shoppers are advised to confirm hours in advance.

For those in need of emergency support such as food, shelter, medication, or personal care, the Region of Peel Street Helpline is available 24/7 at 1-877-848-8481. For emergency Peel Living maintenance requests, residents can call 905-790-7335.

For shopping outside Mississauga, some Toronto-area malls will be open. Toronto Premium Outlets will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Good Friday and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Easter Sunday. Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Pacific Mall will be open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days.

Transit services will run on modified schedules. MiWay will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule for both Good Friday and Easter Sunday, though some routes—specifically routes 28 Confederation, 46 Tenth Line-Osprey, and 48 Erin Mills—will not run. GO Transit will follow a Sunday schedule on Good Friday. TransHelp will operate from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. on both Friday and Sunday, though trips must be pre-booked by 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 17. The TransHelp offices will be closed.

Looking ahead to Easter Monday, most businesses will return to regular hours, though some government services will remain closed. City and regional offices, Canada Post, schools, and community recycling centres will not be operating. However, major malls, banks, LCBOs, grocery stores, and restaurants will reopen, with transit services running as usual. Curbside garbage and recycling collection will follow the regular Monday schedule.
