Walmart Plans New Store at Bramalea City Centre, Documents Filed with City Reveal

Plans filed with the City of Brampton suggest retail giant Walmart is preparing to open another store in the city, potentially expanding its presence at Bramalea City Centre. According to planning documents posted by the municipal planning department, the company is looking to move into the former space previously occupied by Decathlon at the mall located at 24 Peel Centre Drive. If the project moves ahead, the new outlet would become the sixth Walmart supercentre operating in Brampton. The documents outline several renovations that would be required to convert the space into a standard Walmart layout, including removing the existing interior and rebuilding the store to match the company’s typical design. Exterior changes are also planned, such as repainting the building in Walmart’s signature colours and installing new signage. The proposal also includes the creation of a dedicated pickup zone for online orders on the southeast side of the building, along with adjustments to the parking area in front of the store to increase the number of available spaces. A designated location for a seasonal garden centre is also shown in the site plan. Walmart has not yet confirmed the project publicly or provided details about a possible opening timeline if the required approvals are granted by city officials.
