Violent Smash-and-Grab at Brampton Costco Leaves Employee Injured

Peel Regional Police are investigating a violent smash-and-grab robbery at a Costco warehouse in Brampton that occurred Monday evening, with dramatic video footage of the incident now circulating widely on social media.

The robbery happened around 7:00 p.m. on April 14 at the Costco on Biscayne Crescent, near Steeles Avenue East and Highway 410. According to police, multiple masked suspects stormed the store and smashed into a jewelry display case, making off with several stolen pieces.

Videos posted to social media platforms, including one by user Pierre Couture on X (formerly Twitter), appear to show two individuals grabbing merchandise from the shattered display. One of them is visibly wielding a large hammer while swiftly emptying the case before fleeing the scene.

Another video, recorded shortly after the incident, captures the aftermath: a shattered glass case surrounded by stunned customers and store staff directing people away from the scene.

A Costco employee who attempted to intervene during the robbery was struck by one of the culprits and sustained minor injuries, police said.

While police confirmed the theft of multiple pieces of jewelry, they have not disclosed the number of suspects involved or provided detailed descriptions. Investigators also declined to comment specifically on the authenticity of the videos circulating online.

The investigation remains ongoing, and Peel Police are urging anyone with information about the robbery to contact them at 905-453-3311.
