Authorities have apprehended two individuals in connection with a pair of carjackings that occurred in Brampton on Thursday, one of which involved a home invasion where residents were threatened with a firearm.
The first incident unfolded around 2:20 a.m. near Goreway Drive and Castlemore Road, where three suspects forcibly entered a residence. Once inside, they brandished a gun, demanding car keys from the occupants. Compliance ensued, leading to the theft of Mercedes Benz sedans by the suspects.
Several hours later, at approximately 5 p.m., another carjacking occurred in a plaza close to Airport Road and Queen Street East. An individual parked in the vicinity was accosted by three armed men, who forcibly removed the victim from their 2017 Rolls Royce and absconded with the vehicle. Thankfully, no physical injuries were reported in either incident.
Shortly after, law enforcement agencies, including the Central Robbery Bureau, 21 Divisional Criminal Investigations Bureau, and the Toronto Police Service, located one of the stolen vehicles in Toronto and detained two suspects. The apprehension also led to the recovery of a loaded firearm.
Identified as 18-year-old Arian Khorassani and an unnamed 17-year-old, the suspects face multiple charges, including robbery with a firearm and wearing a disguise with intent. Due to legal restrictions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the minor cannot be disclosed.
