Turnberry Golf Course May See Major Transformation

A proposal to transform a section of Brampton’s Turnberry Golf Course into a mixed-use community is set for preliminary discussions with city officials this week.

The City of Brampton has received a pre-consultation application from Vardon Flyer Inc. and York Major Holdings Inc., with KLM Planning Partners Inc. representing the applicant. The proposed development at 10100 Heart Lake Road aims to integrate residential, commercial, and recreational spaces into the existing landscape.

City spokesperson Cyrille McGregor confirmed that the application is in the early stages, and any redevelopment would require council approval. Regional Councillor Michael Palleschi, chair of the planning and development committee, emphasized that pre-consultation applications provide an initial review but do not guarantee a full development submission.

“These applications are often revised as applicants refine their projects based on feedback,” Palleschi stated. “Not all pre-consultation applications lead to full development applications, as some proposals are modified, delayed, or withdrawn.”

The submission serves as a preliminary step toward potential amendments to the city’s official plan or zoning bylaws. Any future development application would require a statutory public meeting, ensuring community input before any decisions are made.

York Major Holdings declined to comment ahead of the scheduled meeting with city staff on Wednesday (Feb. 19).
