Newton Park was the site of a successful community-led tree planting event, marking the conclusion of Brampton’s Tree Month. More than 40 local residents, along with environmental groups such as the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and Brampton Parks and Recreation, worked together to plant 75 shrubs and bushes along the Etobicoke Creek Trail.
Councillor Rowena Santos expressed her pride in the event: “It’s heartwarming to see our community so engaged in preserving our natural spaces. This initiative not only helps restore lost greenery but also brings people together for a common cause.”
The event also featured a lively participation from Pinoy Pickleball members who regularly play at nearby Calvert Park. Additionally, a special touch was added by 9-year-old local artist WSven, who created a beautiful live painting to commemorate the event. The day concluded with a community BBQ, providing a space for volunteers and residents to connect and celebrate their achievements.

Councillor Santos further emphasized the importance of such events: “By planting these trees, we are creating a legacy for future generations, enhancing our environment, and improving the quality of life for all Brampton residents.”
This tree planting event highlights Brampton’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement.
